Would that be a D16Z6 1.6 or a B16A2 1.6?

B16 started in 94, so guessing a D16 here.

Personally would do it in three steps, #1 @ 22 ft-lbs, #2 @ 38 or 40 ft-lbs, then last step #3 @ 53 ft-lbs

Why do you say three steps TomCat over the two? Wouldn’t the friction from breaking the 40lbs cause a false reading when going to 53?

From doing the leak gasket TSB for the D15B7 they added it to be a 3 step process. The pressure to break the coefficient of friction at 38 or 40 ft-lbs does not exceed the final torque spec of 53 ft-lbs from my experience.

This TSB is replacing the graphite head gasket with a proper MLS nitrile coated head gasket, same type as the Z6, Y8, Y7, Y5 and Z1 head gaskets. I used this information to adapt the obsolete original FSM 2 step process with this updated 3 step process.

I see! Thanks for sharing, I hadn’t seen that TSB before.
