Re: tire size (ic89)
It shouldn't raise any or + or - very little if done properly.
Do some research HERE

I went from my stock 14" steelies to some 17s with 215/40/17 tires and the difference, while noticable, isn't huge.
Honestly though, I wish I had just gotten 16s, the 17s are just massive. Though I still love them, I'll probably get a seccond set of 15s for racing with.

How can you say that without knowing his tire sizes?

Assuming that you currently have 185/60-14 tires (do you?), and that you'd be switching to 205/40-17 tires, your ride height will be raised approximately 1/2", taking into account differences in tire radius and sidewall flex. Regardless of that, it's still going to look like a roller skate, particularly if you have stock springs.

using simple math, with stock 185/60/14 tires your overall diameter will be 22.74 inches
with 205/40/17 tires your overall diameter will be
23.46 inches
formula used
[(tire width X aspect ratio) X 2] / 25.4
