Default timing belt tensioner woes

i ordered my timing belt supplies from buypartsdirect.com and when doing the install i noticed the new tensioner had a larger outer diameter than the old one. i installed it anyway without considering that it might cause problems. the belt was tight and quite hard to get on even with the tensioner bolted down to the loosest setting and when i tried to adjust the tension, the tensioner didn't move at all. i think the belt was pulling it so hard already that it overpowered the spring. i felt the deflection and it felt only slightly tighter than the old one was so i figured it would be ok and put everything back together and after about 5 min of idle it started to whine. GREAT the belt is too tight and the tensioner loosen cause its already maxed out. here is the part number for the tensioner 14520-p2a-305 did these jackasses send me the wrong part? the engine is a 95 d16z6. i guess i have to call honda tomorrow but im so pissed right now i was hoping somebody could give me some insight. also the new belt seemed a little shorter but i thought this was due to wear. could this also be a problem? TIA

i think im running a timing belt for a d15 vtec! jdm only motor! the belt i need is 14400-P28-004 and the one i just installed is 14400-P08-004!! that would make sense then right? its almost the same motor cept its 1.5 vs 1.6 i guess the belt would be stretched to fit on a 1.6. man this sucks. thanks for the site, very helpful.
