i have been noticing something weird concerning with the tension of my timing belt. everytime i check the tension of it, by pressing it with my finger i feel a noticable difference. sometimes the belt would be tight, sometimes loose, sometimes the front will be loose and the back would be tight, visa versa. any advice or suggestions would be apreciated, thanks.

 

It will depend on the temperature. The belt will tighten up as the engine warms up. You should be able to feel some play in the belt.

Probably a long shot, but I've had them stretch unevenly before. If that happens then you will see the belt "jumping" around a lot if you rev the motor when warm.
