Timing on B18C1 in an SI hatch???
I tried setting my timing to 16 +/- 2 and it just wouldn't. I let it get its normal driving temp when I checked it. I have no mods on the car due to smog registration being due. The car passed visual and the 25 mph test but not the 15 mph test. My hydrocarbons where high and my timing was way off. I did a valve adjustment 3 months ago but I have never changed my timing belt. The engine has 90,000 miles on it. Could it be the timing belt or is there something else wrong with my car? Thanks for your imput in advance.

When you are trying to set youre ignition timing how are you doing it?
Remember that you have to disable the ecu from adjusting the timing by jumping the green 2-pin connector on the r/side dash area under the glove box and then you can adjust it no prob.

I am bypassing the ecu, and letting the engine get its full temp. It will adjust just not to its recommended spec. I think it needs a timing belt. I just dont want to spend I don't need to.

well, just what do you mean it "adjust but not to where i need it" ?
What degree can you get it to?
And if you want to check youre t-belt just pull valve cover and set engine on time
and check the marks and see if they all line up.If they do then your t-belt isnt streched.
