Thinking of buying a hatch with 180k miles
I found a hatchback that I really like, a white 94vx model but it has 180k miles on the chassis and original motor. It is in great condition but I am a little worried about the miles. How long do stock hatchback motors last (miles) with regular maintenance? I am thinking it's a honda so I shouldn't worry but I have doubts. Any help is appreciated.

I bought my 93 Si with 212k on the original motor and tranny. It now has 282k on the original motor and tranny
Buy it.

My hatch has 203k, and it really drives near new. Motor uses 0 oil, no exaduration. I had to put a radiator in it and............ that's about it. Average 35MPG or so and reliable, what more can you ask for.

lol... After reading this I can't even remember how to spell it correctly.
Don't worry about buying a high mileage Honda.
Just make sure the vehicle has been maintained, and check for smoke out of the exhaust at higher RPMs. Also be weary of rust.

"Good condition" better mean "stocked with Thin Mints and virgins", because $4000 for a stock, non-VTEC EG with 180k on the clock is robbery.

Ouch.. 4k is a lot for a hatch w/ that many miles. the body and interior better be perfect. Even then, it's still not worth that much. But given the supply and demand of clean hatches in the bay area, I'm guessing somebody's willing to pay that amount. Cuz most of the ones available are either thrashed, riced out, or salvaged. Good luck..

Re:
rofl... $4k for a hatch with almost 200k miles? hes either retarded, or the interior is gold plated.
offer him $2k at most and if he doesnt take it... screw him
but if you are willing to spend that much (which would be a mistake) for the hatch, my 92 hatch has 228,000 miles on it and still runs fine.
so you decide.

Re: Re: (slowEGchris)
I still have to see it in person first before i make a decision. from the pics it looks mint, and its the color i want. i have been looking for a white si because im not a fan of the blue interior but they are hard to find.
im just buying the car as a commuter/gas saver. i may offer him 3200 and see what happens. blue book value is a little over $3000 for excellent condition and i will only buy it if the body and interior are in excellent condition.

^^^Ouch you know that hurt. People need to watch their kids. I would feel really bad if I were that guy.
To the OP 4,000 is way to much money.

i bought my eg hatch with 220 k miles on it.but i inspected it before i bought it .i dont care about the mileage on the car or motor as long as the body is straight and have never been into accidents.as i know i am going to do a motor swap sooner or later anyway.now my eg hatch is running with the third engine

You're kidding right? Because you should have asked the seller to include some KY.
