Default Think I messed up my Knock Sensor

I did a compression test today at work but I think I messed it up. I unplugged my injectors, and took out the wire and plug for the cylinder I was testing. When I was done with that test I put em back and moved on to the next. I pulled the car out and turned it off untill I could go home. I got back in about 45min later and started driving. Around 6 minutes into driving the check engine light came on. So I went straight to Advance Auto Parts and they told me it was the Knock Sensor. The paper read "defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor" Seems like it doesnt run as well as it should. I came home worried that I messed something up. I knew I had heard I should have unplugged the dizzy but I didnt. Im going to try and pull the code on my own, but I knew the guy at Advance and he not shady at all. Should I just reset the ECU or what do I do now. Most the searches came up as people trying to wire one up for a swap. God any help is wanted.

Well I checked my CEL and it was 2 long and 3 short so "23". I pulled all the spark plugs and checked them and they looked okay, no melting or anything. I didnt notice any noises coming from the engine, such as ping or detonation. Could have I just fried the Sensor or am I fucked? I was thinking by just unplugging the injectors and turning the car over maybe made a lean condition for a second, and in turn caused the CEL to come on. I think the car is in limp mode, doesnt run like it did before. Should I try unplugging the battery?

Doing it the way I did it and not unplugging the dizzy, could that have shorted something out? Also is resetting the ECU by dissconnecting the battery a good way?

Shorted something out, I highly doubt that. Resetting the ecu that way is fine, unless you have a newer car where the radio needs a code to be enabled. If you would of kept your fuel injectors plugged in, I would of said that's what probably would of caused it.

Well I reset the ECU and let it idle up to normal temp, and then took it out. Ran great no CELs. Got home got changed to go to school then once it got back up to normal temp (2min run time) CEL came on again, and the car felt slower. Im starting to get worried in case of some serious damage.

Took it to another shop, cleared the code. Timing was dead on. Their tests were inconclusive. Came home no problems. Waited awhile and then took it for a spin and its back on. Taking it to the dealership. No other ways to test it.

I wish it was that easy. I hadnt that part of the car for awhile. I just got back from the dealer, and got my free tune up . I had them check out the CEL as well. Said everything in the computer looked good. While he had the filter off he noticed the Knock Sensor was hit by something. Now I dont know if he was lying and wanted something to replace, but for now its all I got. I guess maybe when I did my oil change about 1,000miles ago and PCV valve I could have bumped something, and it just now starts flakin out. Who knows, im pretty depressed now lol
