Who cares. Were all gonna die one day anyways. The ozone is huge as ****, a couple cars not using cat's isng going to do anything harmful. Tons of muscle cars dont run cats and older cars dont even do emissions so who the hell knows wtf kinda **** their putting out into the air.

Like test pipes are the # 1 cause of pollution in the U.S.A. or anywhere else in the world.

Re: test pipe pros and cons (Dimi)
Actually, cattle flatulence (yea cow farts) is the #1 contributor to the greenhouse effect. So if I need a cat, those cows need butt plugs.

Re: test pipe pros and cons (specv5150)
The older cars don't have to comply with current polution standards because there are so few of them compared to newer cars. In the grand scheme of things they aren't causing the ozone to deteriorate instantly. I, for one, am glad they don't have to comply. Imagine 30 years from now someone has a bone stock GSR, Type R, etc. and they're made to put (at the time) current emission regulations on it that weren't on the car from the factory. Pretty silly IMO.
But back on topic - I have a test pipe only because I bought the car with it and simply didn't know (it's kinda hard to look under a lowered Del Sol for a cat). Now that you guys mention it, my exhaust does smell a bit funny but I get around 30 mpg on average if I'm not on it a lot. I have no idea what it would go down to if I got a cat put on, but in the next month or so I might find out.

i removed my decat (test pipe in u.s) and replaced with ek9 cat to pass our yearly mot (u.k test). also wanted to see what noise difference was as wanted to make car quieter.
decat defo makes car louder or should i say exhaust more boomy/sound like ****. noticed very slight loss in throttle response when i removed decat as well. cant say what gains it give but general opionions range from 1-3bhp dependin on setup. must be some dyno proof somewhere on here.
everyone goes about puttin better exhaust/header on as oem is restrictive so surely cat is is restrictive ?
i think test pipe are good but hate the extra noise they create
