Default Taking a tire off the rim?

Can I do this at home?
Size 195/55/15 to be exact. I'm not using the tires anymore but don't want to damage it incase there's someone who wants them.

*me used to work in tire shop*
I suggest taking it to a tire shop and having them do it for you. It can be done with a prybar but its a bitch and a half, and if you want to keep the rims then that is COMPLETLY out of the question. (we had to take 3 sets of tires off w/ prybars to throw in junkyard one day b/c the power was out, and thats all we could get done in that day...keep in mind 3 sets, as in 12 tired....)

I wanted to paint the rims with the tires off since I'm getting new winter tires installed soon.
I guess no home job then.
Thanks for replies.

You might try taping off the tires? Like when you prime/paint a car and tape it off. That is the only suggestion I have unless you have an extra set. Take the "want to be painted set" in, have the tire shop remove the tires. Paint the wheels, take them in to have the tires put on, then put them on yourself.
