switching my car from OBD1 to OBD2... am i missing anything?
ok so i have a 97 civic with a complete OBD1 gsr swap running in it. i gotta swap to OBD2 to get a sticker now.
so i need to:
install an OBD2A P72 ecu
Install an OBD2 dizzy
perform CFK trick
is there anything else im missing to make my car OBD2 with no CEL?

if everything on the engine is hooked up and ready to go, the OBD1 distributor will work fine. If I remember right, the CFK trick and ECU is all you need.

you also have to have a knock sensor hooked up. the obd1 engine you have now does not have a place for one to go unfortunately. you cant just simply plug in a sensor and let it hang either, it will still throw a code. i've not seen it done but i believe the only way you can get the knock code to go away is actually tig weld a bung or nut of some kind to the back upper portion of the block and then screw your ks into it. this is what i'll be doing when i run the z6 in my 96 civic with the stock obd2 ecu.

You can do the CFK bypass trick and still pass with a sticker? Also I believe you need to convert everything to obd2 including the distributor... However, your gsr motor is obd1 therefore it must be older than your civic. So thats an automatic fail.
What you need is a complete obd2a or obd2b Gsr motor in order to get your sticker. Thats the easiest way

Err... My obd1 gsr definetely has a knock sensor lol....
And it's not an "automatic fail" in my state. But thanks looks like these 3 things are all I need!

u also need to run secondary o2...
and it is not an automatic fail just because of your motor mounts...keep in mind all they're looking for is emission stuff....lol (obd1 motor mounts)

he already mentioned he'd be doing the ckf trick to bypass that. now if they actually look for the sensor then i guess he's kinda screwed lol

ahh I went ahead and put a crank angle sensor on my Obd0 block when i converted it to obd2 cuz i didnt know about it and some local honda guys told me that the 99-00 SI oil pump was a higher pressure so it kicked the V-Tec in at a lower RPM.. turns out they were right

wat? the 99 civic si oil pump made your vtec kick in at lower rpms? Its the ecu's job to determine that..

Re: switching my car from OBD1 to OBD2... am i missing anything?
what does CFK stand for? im doing a 95 swap into my 97 also all i knew i had to do was change the iacv plug on the wiring harness and swap a few wires in one of the harnesses i forget which one. and im also getting an OBD2 to 1 harness and an OBD1 ecu.
im rebuilding the motor it wont be done for another month or so, just trying to figure out everything ahead of time.
