swapping engine for smog
hello people, right now my 96 civic ex is dead and need to smog ..can i pass smog with a d16y7? or d16y7 block with the y8 head...what can i do to pass smog cause it is hard to find a d16y8 engine..thanks

well if you have a full y7 engine swap available, technically the same rule applies, all the emissions equipment must be installed and working, engine must be same year or newer. I think you should get the matching non-vtec ecu for that engine too. So yes if you swap everything out like a normal engine swap, you can pass. But try to get the Y8 fixed after that if you plan on keeping it stock.

yea i just need the smog because im thinking about going something else..but i do have a d16y7 complete with ecu .... so is that a yes? will it pass with the y7? and will it plug right up?

hey if u have a vtec engine can u run a non vtec ecu? and like grind off the b18c off from ur blcok and get a new valve cover? or am i just thinking way off of reality?
