yes, you need a spring compressor to remove the old ones, and depending on what type of shocks you get you might need them to reassemble them (i.e neuspeed konis) and depending what your intentions are for the car will determine what kind of set up you want. do you know what spring rates you want? how far do you want to drop your car? there is alot of choices when it comes to suspensions!!

yea you need a spring compressor. the autozone around here, rents them out for free, you just pay the deposit, return it and get your deposit back. however, you don't really need the spring compressor to put it back on, or at least i couldn't use mine, since the compressor wouldn't fit between the coils of the lowering spring.

Some people have done it without, but if it's your first time it's better to be safe. You only need it to take the old springs off though.

Well, you should be able to assemble the new springs and struts without a spring compressor. Just put the spring on the strut, put the strut cap on, and have your buddy hit the top nut with an impact to tighten while you hold the strut cap down and compress the spring enough to just poke the threads out enough to get the nut threaded.
If you have to take the stock springs off the stock strut you would need one.

well if you're going to use the compressor, you still need it to take off the top hat/bushing to reuse on your new shock/spring. otherwise if you're not using the spring compressor, just aim the top of the spring/strut at something or somebody you don't like, and loosen the nut at the top.

if you've done or worked with springs, you don't always need a spring compresser. but to be safe you should use one. my friend knew what he was doing, and since it was just 1.5 and 1.75 in the front drop, we barely were able to do it without a spring compresser. good luck with your new suspension.
