Re: Stolen: Seattle super street civic type r
Woah, I think I saw your car a couple months ago on Alki. Isn't that Alki Auto in that first pic? I'll keep my eye out man... That really sucks... A guy I know had his Accord stolen twice in 2 months. First time, it was stolen from in front of his house and stripped of every non-stock thing. Speakers, stereo, rims, etc. Next time, his ride got stolen FROM THE SSCC PARKING LOT! They were caught on tape, but never had a usable facial profile. He found it a week later a couple blocks away... Anyways, just mentioning that because your story adds fuel to the fire. This is utter madness. I've heard of so many honda's getting stolen here lately it isn't funny. Oh yeah, I know of another guy whose wife's car was stolen in front of their house. Shimmed the door lock and screwdriver'd the ignition. They found it a few miles away. Seems like people in the area like to joyride. But in your case, it sounds too planned out.
Really sorry to hear that

Im sorry bro, your car was gorgeous. I cant believe there are scumbags out there who stoop to that level of jealously to where they feel the need to have to steal someone else's car just because they cant afford one, or those parts on their own.

I hate this statement. It's a total lie. They stole it cause it was an easy target. Theives take the path of least resistance. If a target is too hard they just look for a softer one.
Two wheel boots would have prevented them from pushing it out of the back yard. So they would have had to either pick the locks on the wheel boots or cut them off. Either techniques would have required additional time, skills and tools to accomplish. The longer it takes and the more complex it is, the greater chance of failing or being caught. A concept thieves understand very well.
GPS hooked into the cell/SMS network with a tilt sensor is a must for any modified vehicle. They can be jammed with a radio frequency jammer. But a good RF jammer is expensive and takes training to use perfectly. They would also need to know which type of GPS you have and what frequencies it opperates on.
So basically once they start cutting the boots the tilt sensor detects the motion and text messages and e-mails the owner. At which point he can dispatch a neighboor, friend or Police to investigate. Granted you may have to lie to the Police to get a fast response. A risk I think is worth taking.
To the OP I am very sorry for your loss. That was a beautiful car. I hope you had it appraised every year and insured for it's true value. So at least you get a decent cheque out of the deal.

If the car is in the US still, it's in pieces.
If it's still in one piece that's because it's in a container ship on it's way to it's new owner.
It's depressing just thinking about it.

My '98 MB4 with 300000kms on body is appraised and insured for 13500$. Might be less then half I put into it but way better than Kelly blue book value.
Have you taken addition technological and physicsl security measures?

I agree with the above 100%....
I made this thread below originally on b20vtec but posted it here for this exact type of situation...
