Re: stock z6 headgasket (claytonsmith)
Cometic is the same **** as a stock MLS gasket.
Don't get ripped off by cometic. The only time I would buy a cometic HG is if I need to raise the compression without changing pistons and such.
Just remember every time you blow out a HG you're stuck paying $100 for a new HG.

this is totally uneducated so someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but i was always under the impression that the z6 gasket was not metal, but the y8 was and fit the z6. im pretty sure the y8 gasket is much cheaper as well.

The Z6 HG is steel. The Y8 and the Z6 are the same HG. Don't be duped into spending $80 on a Z6 when the Y8 cost half as much and is the same.

the cheap headgaskets that are in form of the aftermarket exhaust manifold gaskets. i thought that i would be able to get my point across without someone bringing that up, but i guess i was wrong. i was talking about the one piece gaskets

Those are referred to as composite gaskets.

Re: stock z6 headgasket (slambedcivic)
whoa whoa whoa... ok
so
z6 and y8 gaskets are both MLS... i was aware of that i think
but i thought one was a 2 layer and one was a 3 layer??
and why is the y8 gasket so much cheaper than a z6 one?

Supposedly you can order a two layer gasket, but I have never been able to.
Every single part for a Y8/Y7 is cheaper. Most stuff is half the cost of the old motors. Also, every SOHC 96-00 civic used the same HG. DX, EX, HX, etc, they are all the same MLS HG.
