Stock Brakes seem mushy/weak
i have a 1993 civic ex that was recently purchased
sometimes the brake pedal will go all the way in for no reason but still hold. I can pump it a few time to get the pedal back out. and they feel very weak and slow responsive to my older car. I have checked to make sure there was enough brake fluid, and there is. is there possibly air in the lines? should i bleed the system to be sure or is this normal for this car.

More than likely you've got some air in your lines. flush them out completely with brand new fluid. Since it's a used car you might as well go over it with a fine toothed comb and start with the small stuff like bleeding brakes, changing tranny fluid, radiator flush, etc. Basic maintenance stuff.

Re: (IslandSi)
When i bleed these brakes where should i start? is there a write up on how to do it correctly. I know how to bleed brakes just not which wheels first and if i flush the whole system what do i need to do. All i have ever done is change one caliper at a time which doesn't require a whole system flush.

Dont you go from the furthest away from brake booster...then work you way to closest...You can do a search i know there is bound to be tons of info on that.
