Still throwing code 17(VSS) after its been fixed(Searched)
Im puzzled that Im still throwing a code17 after I replaced my harness for the VSS.My speedo didnt work before and now it does. But Im still getting that code, anyone know why? My vtec isnt working aswell! throwing code21. Checked the soleniod (ground, screen) .From my search, I found that from having the VSS code, vtec might not work?
Thanks for the help guys.

That def. helps....you gotta reset the ECU or it won't recognize the fact that you have a good VSS.

It's not that it won't recognise the new sensor, it just keeps the code stored in memory. If he didn't have another problem causing as CEL he probably wouldn't even know.

hmmm.....do you have another VSS you could throw in just to try?is VTEC working now?
not doubting you,but are you resetting the ECU properly?

Yes, I have another VSS that I could throw in. BUT the problem was the harness(corrossion sp?)not the VSS. Before, my speedo didnt work and now it does after the harness change. And no, vtec is not working, my engine light comes on RIGHT away after I turn on the car. And those codes are 21 and 17. I tried both ways of reseting the ecu, the ecu fuse and unplugging the battery.

21 is VTEC solenoid,so that could certainly be your problem with VTEC.any idea what's going on there?
i would try the new VSS.i've seen cars where the contacts on the VSS plug were corroded and not making a good conection from water exposure.problem is,the terminals on the VSS were just as corroded too.worth a shot,if for nothing else to eliminate that variable.

Re: Still throwing code 17(VSS) after its been fixed(Searched) (Bseriesy0)
The problem is still in your wiring. The VSS sensor has 3 pins. One which goes to your tach for your odometer reading and another that goes to your ECU. So if by chance any one of these where switched or that the wiring to the ECU is damaged then you will still get the code even though everything else is working properly..
And if you are getting code 21 make sure that your wiring for your vtec solenoid is correct to.. They are independant codes so would check that out as well..
