there is something else going on, obviously. i'd not touch the TB to create a bandaid.

what is your vacuum at idle? how high does your vacuum go when you let off throttle in gear at any given point?

As stated, vac at idle is 20inHg

I cant remember what the highest point is, but I dont have the guage fully installed - just temp @ the booster port

This is a wiered situation. I'll just throw these ideas out there though. Did you try adjusting your idle with the idler screw?

could it be a bad intake mani or tb gasket throwin a sensor off and making it read wrong? i had a bad tb gasket after installing a tb spacer. cause weird problems.

I have rtv around the TB gasket and around the IM @ the water port
The TB gasket is pretty old and the IM gasket is hondata-esque

y0...

when i did my gsr swap in may, i reused the gasket that came with it when i put my sohc's 62mm BBK TB on it. the gasket that came with the dohc was old, and only had half a tear in one small section from me removing it- not enough IMO to cause any issue because it was only half a tear, it was SMALL and didn't connect any two ports. i coated it with hylomar and put it back. i chased an idle surge and vacuum leak for days to no avail. i took the gasket off, put the old composite one from my sohc on, and bam, idle surge gone, vac leak gone...

just an idea.

Yeah, it was something that was nagging at me...

I did try to buy a new gasket, 3 times, from the parts store but the right one never came in. I dont know what the hell was happening so I quit... Really, I should know better w/ felpro...
Anyway, I was just going to buy one of these gaskets:
http://www.hondamarketplace.co...12802
Since I seem to take things apart so often, something like this seems to make a lot of sense.
Thoughts?

haha, were the fel pro ones a hella small bore? before i switched to the other one, it was a saturday, so no honda...i figured the parts store would have one. they kept showing me this tiny *** TB gasket that the felpro cat said would work on a GSR...it was like 56mm at the most!

ill be honest, i'd just use a soft type composite gasket at this point. the OE type-r unit is like 5$ from honda. i'd not risk it with a hard-type gasket right now.

i forget what size tb you have, but you can trim it larger if you need.

i used this one- http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs...T=999

Holy crap YES!
Even their "itr spec" gasket was like 56mm! I waited 4 solid days, making 3 trips, for that garbage. It was insane...
Oh, and I dont know if you even tried to get it on the manifold, but the bolt pattern wasnt even right...

I'll just get this bbk gasket for 60mm i guess
edit-
frick they only have 62mm .... to the parts store i guess.
edit 2-
screw it i'll buy this 62...the im bore is larger than that anyways
edit 3-
none in stock...earliest ship is 7-10 days......god damn it today is supposed to be lucky!

dang, yeah, seems everyone is backordered with that gasket...i checked summit too

i think a new honda should be ok OR you could call BBK on monday to see if you can get one direct, but it's not likely they have one in stock.

Yeah Ive checked a few other vendors on google also...one place had it, but wanted $12 for shipping, which I refuse to pay when the gasket is $11.
Oh well, I contacted options auto, since theyre the only place that didnt say whether it was in stock or not

idk when i did my tb spacer i tried the gaskets that were with it and they leaked. so i bought some from autozone and they leaked. so i tryed to cut gaskets myself. i wanst surprized that that didnt work. but by now i thought i had an uneven surface somewhere. so i checked the gaskets again with some starting fluid and it was still not sealed. so i went to a honda dealer and ordered new gaskets. and the sealed. fixed the problem. but it was weird that i tryed so many and only the honda ones worked. im curious to know what you find out.

New gasket came and installed = No change

Out of rage and frustration, I expanded the idle adjustment screw hole to 5/32"
Also, no change

Its going to a shop...it has to at this point

I know it sounds simple, but I seem to get this same problem when I fill my oil too high after I change it, especially when I was running 10W.

You need to set your idle higher. Unplug your IACV and adjust the idle screw until the car can idle between 450 and 500 on its own without the IACV plugged in. Then plug your IACV back in and pull the backup and hazard fuse out of the relay box underneath the hood to reset the ECU and clear the memory so your CEL goes away (IACV wasnt plugged in). Plug everything back up and hopefully it works.

Yoffer......you didnt read **** did you?
Seriously, if youre going to pop into a thread that is 8 pages long, you could at least read some of it.

No its not solved. Its at the shop right now, dropped it off last night.
Its actually in for a chronic bad HG, but once thats fixed the stalling is #2 on the list.

What range is your temp guage in while driving? Your answer will effect my my next question..

So I will wait for a reply.
