SRS Light on & Horn not working. ClockSpring bad?
I bought a 95 civic ex and the car was previously stolen. They broke the ignition and so I had to replace it. So what happened was that I took everything apart to get the ignition. So I removed wiper/headlight switch, airbag, steering wheel, clockspring, etc. Just to get access to the ignition assembly. So I got that replaced and put everything back in. Horn works fine at this time. SRS light wasnt on. I might have not turn the clockspring pointed in an up direction prior to replacing the steering wheel. So when I might a U turn, I heard like click sounds like something wasnt right. So I parked, and the SRS light came on. Then I tried pressing the horn button and nothing! Wasnt working. So Im not sure if i messed up the clockspring behind the steering wheel. Any suggestions what the problem may be? The SRS reel looks fine to me.

I think I may have figured it out. I didnt place the steering wheel back on Dead Top Center and when I made that U Turn. I snapped the Clockspring/Reel

Also known as a 'cable reel', it's the mechanism that manages your wiring to your horn and your airbag. If it's installed improperly, the wiring, which is quite fragile, will break and you'll loose functionality of your horn and airbag (thus the SRS light coming on). I've done this as well. You have to be really careful when taking this part on and off the steering column...it's deceptively easy to break...only 3 screws hold it on, so it seems like it's easy to take on and off, but if you manhandle it, or if you install it wrong, you'll be looking for another one at the junk yard. Or buying a new one from Honda for $250.

The clock spring or cable reel can be damaged easily because it can only be turned in either direction by only 2 rotations, any more than that will wreck it!!!!!
When ever i remove one, i put a zip tie over in a center position right away just so not to mess it up. This is why dealerships have tech's that know stuff like this that the average public does not
