Speedometer and ODO stopped working
Hey guys I have been out of the Honda thing for a while but just picked up an swapped EK hatch to have fun with.
I was driving yesterday and all the sudden the Speedometer and Odometer stopped working. Do you have any idea where to start the trouble shooting?
I see the car has a obd2-obd1 Jumper on an OBD1 computer. The car is a LS Vtec LS trans. I checked the VSS connection at the transmission and it was tight and clean.
Any ideas??
Thanks

Re: Speedometer and ODO stopped working
No CEL but I just read the other thread about possibly being the Speedometer Board in the cluster itself so I am going to check it out.
I did notice at high RPM the tach and speedometer out jump all around but then all the sudden the speedometer just stopped.

Re: Speedometer and ODO stopped working
Check the FAQs and find the fuse 15 TSB. Read it and you should be able to fix the issue

speed sensor, also check the cluster...try putting in a different one and see what happens, there's also a possibility a fuse is bad under your dash.please check them

Re: Speedometer and ODO stopped working
The speedometer was dead in my car not too long ago and it wasn't the speed sensor. I took apart the cluster and it seemed the needle was 'sticky'. Lubed it a little which got the needle to go up a little but wasn't close to accurate. Ended up buying a cluster from ebay and swapping the speedometer. Now it works

check everything others have stated. My speedo stopped on me but once in a while it would jump at random. I removed the speed sensor and there was a fair amount of slop in the shaft. I bought a replacement online and the problem disappeared.

Re: Speedometer and ODO stopped working
Digging further into it, its intermediate. At high RPM's it jumps around a lot but driving normal it seems to be pretty solid.
Im going with either the VSS is truly going out, or the board in the cluster. I put it all back together and drove 200 miles and it hasn't gone back off just jumps around at WOT and 6+k RPM.
