Speedo malfunction
My speedo is acting up of recent. If i start my car 5 times, the speedo will only work 1 out of 5 times. It would just stay at zero and never move. When it does work, if I pass 4000 rpms, it will start to jump all over the place. What could be the problem, the speedo sensor, it's connection, or internally in the gauge cluster?

Re: Speedo malfunction
This seems to occur with cars that do alot of engine swaps...During coolant hose removal, the coolant from the thermostat housing drips right on top of the speed sensor connector. Eventually the VSS fails and you get erratic speedometer readings and then nothing at all. It will sometimes store a fault too...
Swap in a new vss and inspect the pins for corrosion. Seen this more than once including my own personal car

Re: Speedo malfunction
That is exactly what happened . Some coolant got on the connector for the VSS sensor but I cleaned it and never thought twice.
