Speedo fix gone wrong- help!
Hey, so I recently got a 92 civic DX, and the speedometer died almost immediately. I decided to fix it myself, since the gauge cluster was already replaced once with used about a year ago, and I'm "thrifty." I read the instructions on here a few times, looked at all the pictures, etc. Went to test things before putting it back together properly..aaand the hazards/signals don't work. If the hazard button is not plugged in, it makes a beeping it's not made since I've had it, and if that is plugged in, a couple of the dash lights come on and stay on regardless of whether the key is in/on.
I visually checked every fuse in the interior panel (the cover is missing so I have no idea which is which), they seem fine. I pulled apart the speedometer again to look at my solder job, in case I blobbed two pins together or something...can't find any problems.
So where should I go from here? Electronic stuff is not my forte. Any input appreciated.
Also thanks to the posters of the speedometer fix. Good info
edit: Just discovered another fun fact. If I run the engine while the hazard thing is plugged in, the engine won't shut off when the key is removed. Have to unplug the flasher to kill it. Awesome.

Check for an aftermarket alarm system you don't know about. Remove it if there is one and you don't have the control for it.
Unplug the cluster, plug in everything else, and test the blinkers and engine.

Thanks, mk, I will have a look, though I've never had an alarm system so I may have a hard time finding one. Will see what the internet can show me to look for.
Tony, that cracked me up

So I found the problem...loose nut behind the wheel. In my plugging in for testing, I didn't do the plug for the clock. Turns out that was the one I stuck in the hazard switch. Which I would have noticed if I'd plugged everything in, because the hazard plug won't fit in the clock hole. Yep, outsmarted myself again.
