sooo clicking in reverse but not cv axles..
I have a 99 civic ex with a d16y8 with a b4ra transmission.
The car only clicks in reverse, but not in forward. I'm not sure if its coming from the transmission or from something else now.
The original transmission that I got with the car clicked in both forward, and reverse. I managed to find a parts civic and grabbed it for 400 and took the tranny and some other parts. Replaced the transmission and the clicking stopped. But the transmission was slow in comparison. I was happy but dissapointed..
In the meantime I had my original one to tinker with and curiosity got the best of me. I opened her up with no prior knowledge to transmissions.
I found a part of the case was broken on the inside and a gear was loose
and figured "This must of been that annoying clicking all along!"
So I ordered a rebuild kit from autozone, and replaced every O-ring, clutch and seal. Only things I didn't change we're the bearings which I think was a mistake now but I am not sure since there was only one left on the bell housing. The only part I used off of the parts transmission is the case, and the differential assembly, that's it. Same bell housing, valve body, and rear cover.
I don't see how one bearing would only click in reverse, and not in forward.
Hopefully I made it so its understood well, and someone can help.
Also my shift cable seams a little loose if someone could help me with instructions to tighten that.

Re: sooo clicking in reverse but not cv axles..
I went to back into a parking spot this morning (4 speed automatic 96 Civic cx) and all I got was slow buzz clicking. I went into forward then reverse again and she backed up like normal. First time I experienced that...
I wonder if I wasn't fully into the reverse position on the shifter.
I mention it because you mention that you think your cable is loose.
Get a shop manual and find out how to set it up.
