D-series header that gives best clearance from the ground?
I've been looking for weeks and can't find anything. Anyone know where i can get a header for a d series engine that will give the best clearance from the ground? My house has a nasty bump where my header keeps hitting hard. Can't seem to find a thing anywhere.

Re: Exhaust header
Did a quick google search, found this

How bad is your clearance? Can you just get it modified at an exhaust shop.

Re: Exhaust header
My phone might just be bad but i can't seem to find the d series header for order on that site. I had been there.
I'm not sure what an exhaust shop would be able to do? My header has a bunch of big hits in the bottom so i was looking for something else that would give me better clearance.

How does that all work? I'm not really concerned with legality for my exhaust. I used to daily run open full race headers on an old school chevy 350.
I'm just looking for clearance, not concerned about smog or legality.

I was really hoping i could avoid using the stock manifold. I might have to do that but I'll keep looking around for a bit longer. Thanks for the input.

What brand of header do you have on there currently, cuz you're either really slammed, that thing hangs REALLY low, or that's one hell of a nasty bump (my radiator support/frame will scrape on bumps before my header will, and mine's just some Stainless Steel Megan POS)

I have some random aftermarket header my car came with. Not sure on the brand since the metal plate with the logo looks too corroded to understand it. The header actually hangs really low, it is the lowest point. You said you're running a megan racing header and that its higher than your radiator support? I'll probably give that a try. Just about an extra inch or two higher.

just buy a ebay header for 100 bux and call it a day... i had one i used for many years with no problems. your not going to see more then a 3hp gain on a d series and maybe alil low end TQ. if it hangs that low it must be some homemade race header . a buddy of mine had one like this and the header was way too big for that little d series and useless

I'll give an ebay header a shot. idk how or why this one hangs so low but it hangs pretty low for my taste.

Spec-D tuning makes a decent 4-2-1 stainless steal header for D-Series that can be had for about a hundred bucks on amazon.com Actually on sale right now for under 60 bucks.
They also make a 4-1 race header if your are planing to be WOT the majority of the time.
Their quality is pretty good for the price, quality stainless steal and solid tig/mig welds. So far it's been a great exhaust especially for the price.

Re: D-series header that gives best clearance from the ground?
In my case it was for fun. I live in a heavy car community area, lots of muscle, classics and even some quality import builds. You hear at least 2 to 3 cars a night ripping their engines a touch.
So I wanted my econobox to sound like a little racer but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg doing it nor did I want to loose my fuel economy and 87 octane capability for the time being. I spent 300 total and it sounds pretty good. Good enough I get big muscle cars drinking a gallon of gas on launch while I just putt along with my near 40 mpg honda.
And the short ram, and header to muffler full exhaust will bolt right up when I do my mini me to a Y8 head my mechanic gave me free. The only real cost will be on the ECU and tuning and I will lose my 87 octane cheap gas but have v-tec and an extra 20-30 horse on my little beater daily driver.
Sometimes it's purely for the fun of the sound while still keeping the benefits of what you bought.
I also found the 4-2-1 header gave a bit more power in the mid range where I'm typically driving so that was a nice improvement.

To others interested in good clearance headers I used a megan racing two piece 4-1 stainless header and it had really good clearance.

Yea.. she mentioned this morning about something being stuck between her teeth, it must have been your *****. Good thing it was small enough to fall out without her having to use a toothpick.

OP how much did you drop your car? I have a dc sport 4-2-1 on my d16y8 and I don't have scraping problems. Also you could weld on some sort of scrape plate
