sohc building
I know most of you have dohc motor swaps and stuff. Im going to do a b16 swap in a couple of months but for now, i just want my single cam to run somewhat hard. Does anyone know who makes a good street cam for a d16y8?

Just save every penny you can. Take it from me, a guy who's ran two SOHC motors into the ground. There is only so much you can do and it really sucks ***** unless you turbo it, and even then it still is not great. Just save every penny so you can mod your swap or get a better swap.

This is a good resource:

I've heard a lot of people have had good luck with ZEX's SOHC cam. My friend ran a Webb cam and it pulled pretty good in his EF.

The key comes down to price, driver, and goal.
I currently own an ITR and do a lot of track schools with it. Even when I was making over 190whp, there were guys in 125 whp SOHC cars that could drive circles around me. If your goal is straight line speed, they you're already at a disadvantage with a Honda. I currently have a hatch that I'm prepping into a full track car. I sold the B-series swap because I could build 2-3 SOHC motors for the same price. A fully prepped SOHC wil put down close to what an OE ITR motor will (160whp/117 tq). If done right, it will be just as reliable too. In a lighter chassis you've got a killer combo.

Why are you going to replace your 1.6L engine with a 1.6L engine?

Re: sohc building (VTC_boost-less_CiViC)
Think of it like this, get the zex cam drive it, It will give you more power. Then when you run into some money and get the swap , sell me your cam. I love my sohc and until I run into my GSR or my Type R swap I will keep it. DOHC bla,
All I got to say is bringit!

I had a d16z6 with a JG cam and the usual bolt ons in my del sol and it was just as quick as all these damn eg's with B-whatever swaps. I didn't have the torque to keep up them on the freeway but when we got to the canyons they couldn't see me. It's all about power to weight.
