i know it doesn't make much sense but i just wanted one to mess around with. but the problem is, i have no idea where to connect the wire in my fuse block. i know it needs to be somewhere where it only gets power when the ignition is at acc or on but still, i have no idea where i would connect the wire to do that. any help would be appreciated

oh dear god no but to each their own try tapping off the fuse for the radio that should be a switched source

If all else fails, just make your own on/off switch for it. Im not a CB radio expert, but you should be able to just directly connect it to the battery, the ****, when turned all the way down, should turn off the unit. At least the older ones do.

i'd rather just connect it to the fuse box somehow because there's no reason for me to go through all the trouble of wiring this thing like i would an amplifier

Have you tried maybe direcly splicing it into your 12v cig adapter? Those arent hard to pop out, lil bit easier IMO tan trying to wire it into the fuse box if you are uncertain of how to do that.

Number 3 at the top of the above diagram is the ACC free pin. Put a quick disconnect on the power wire for your CB and plug it in there.

its a positive a negative and a antenna!

ground it.. and take the power and put it to the windshild wiper fuse.. should be a 15amp just wrap the wire around one of hte fuse ends and put it back in.... it sounds rigged but thats the easiest way to do it (and the way professional install shops do it.. i workd at one so i know)

ive though about putting a cb radio in my car for the hell of it... lemme know if u get it workin. i got a 93 eg and i might think about doing the same thing ur doing.

those are all blank spots to tap into. you wont need to steal power from anything which imo is not a good idea. i would still suggest runnin an inline fuse.

If you have so much knowledge in this field, why not offer some instead of just wasting space on here??

To the OP - How Wire up a CB radio (or anything that needs 12v switched power)
Remove radio-
OEM - http://www.installdr.com/Insta...5.pdf
Aftermarket- remove using the 2 keys supplied when you purchased it, or consult manual

on the back of the radio, there will be a harness.

if its aftermarket, find the following wires
1. Red (Switched power
2. Black (Ground

if its OEM, find the following wires
1.yellow/red (switched power)
2.Black (ground)

Your going to tap into these wires- in order to do so, either go out and buy a soldering iron for 10 dollars, solder for 3, and a roll of tape
or
buy some t tap connectors

and there you have it, run the wires, zip tie them down nice and secure, and bolt everything back up.
