Default Smogging a jdm motor

I am trying to ref my b18c in my 95 civic, and want to know if im going to run into a problem since the motor is a 96, which in Japan was still OBD1, but are they going to think Im trying to convert an OBD2 to an OBD1? as is the motor and the car came OBD1, but will they understand that?

no they will test it to what you say it is... the ref doesn't WANT to fail you. just make sure you have the USDM emissions stuff intact - coal canister, evap purge, and the lines and wires that go to them. also make sure you have the correct style and wire o2 plug sensor and you should be good to go! clear your cels too just in case (pop off the ecu, wait 5 or so minutes, and pop it back on). good luck

They should know that some 96s were still obd 1 and no they don't go off of what you tell them, they have tons of books and look it up. but definatly make sure evrything is good as far as the wiring, and have a good cat/o2 sensor. you may also want to run some fuel system cleaner and the garunteed to pass stuff.

Cool. so with a skunk2 pro series IM, DC header, Greddy Evo cat-back, new Random Tech 50 state cat, USDM P72, I should be good? where can I get an evap solenoid? thats all I think I need. also, I am coming to CA from NV and my front windows are tinted, will they do a full vehicle inspection? or will that wait until the DMV?

neither the ref nor the DMV will inspect your windows for tint. Sometimes a cop will pull you over for it, maybe write you a ticket even, but that is it. Just tell the ref that your motor is an OBD-1 integra gsr motor from Japan and you will be good.

why not keep it registered in NV? Will be less of a hassle.

not true, when I went to pierce college the ref there gave me a fix it ticket for the exhaust I had and the front windows being tinted. I went to oxnard college on my next attempt to get BARd still with the tint and they didn't mention it(I had the exhaust fixed because it was annoying anyways...fart can @ 98.3 DB)

Well then the first ref you went to was a dick and you should have said something about the fact that you were there for the inspection of a replacement motor, not the legality of your window tint, or anything else on your car for that matter.

I did, and yes that ******* was ridiculous. I was told before I went that they can givce tickets/warnings but was told they only give tickets to serious offenses like running a racing header or something like that.

my insurance company got pissed when they found out i was in CA, and with no NV insurance, they are cancelling my registration, and I cant get it renewed without valid NV insurance. and its like a $2000+ fine for not transferring it if i was to get caught.
