Default Slid into a curb today on the ice

Well I was driving around today and I was in a Safeway parking lot going around a corner when I pretty much drifted in the ice and straight into a curb. My right front wheel was turned to the right and so it got slammed hard and now the right front tire is rotated outwards. It doesn't seem out of camber at all but it is rotated outward. The only way to make the car driveable now is to rotate the steering wheel 90 degrees counter clockwise.

Does anyone know what it is that is damaged for this to happen and how I would go about getting it fixed?

Maybe tie rods are out pretty bad but I'm thinking something is broken under there. What about ball joints? Those would be two things I'm most thinking.

ouch...you have to get that on an alignment machine, it could be the lower control arm, tie rod, or knuckle

I hit a curb, turned out to be a lower control arm, but even after we fixed that, the wheel would still whip to the left, so we had to losen the bolts on the sub frame and shift it for it to be straight

Gawd I wanna move to Florida...sigh oh well. But I never thought about the lower control arm for damaging, just went out of my mind. I'd put the bet on that or the tie rods.

Agreed, AT LEAST. Hope your tie rod isn't screwed. Who knows what the damage is until you have a look -- The only way you'll really find out the extent of it.

Hey, is it really that bad out there? Jeez

They shut down my college today as a result of a command from the city of Rochester due to the ice (yes we were supposed to have classes today even though it's MLK day but they were all canceled). Like...I live in campus, it's not a college where people commute (well not a lot anyway). Though the trees were frozen and I haven't seen that...ever... Like not a lot of snow on 'em, FROZEN. As in you could break the branches off b/c they were ice. The Liquid Nitrogen effect.

Wow, so it's really that bad eh? Damn. Signs all over campus urging students not to leave campus...

I'ma go out in about an hour, hope it's not too bad. (foreshadowing on "I SLID ON ICE AND DITCHED MY CAR!!" post).

Though you know what ice/snow and empty parking lots =?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

OOOO YEAH.

I do believe A-Lot is 100% empty besides some front end loaders in the corner
!!!

i did the exact same thing a few months back. it was the lower control arm. i snapped it. it was about $400 but thats cuz i didnt get the parts myself. find the parts yourself and order it and you will save about $100, and thats still if you take it to a shop. if you do it yourself then itl be even cheaper.
