Should oil be visible when looking through oil cap hole?
I was just wondering if the oil in my b16 should be up to the oil cap. I unscrewed the cap today and looked down in there but didnt see any oil.

There may be some residual oil visible on the valvetrain, but that's the extent of it. You should check the oil level using the dipstick.

And like pasawan said " Some residual oil visible on the valvetrain".

Oil drains into the oil pan, which then (when the car is running) is pumped back through the engine, via oil pump. But once your car has been sitting for a while the oil drains into your oil pan.

Ahh okay, got it guys thanks.
Looks like its time for an oil change. The oil is getting a bit dark in color.

How long has it been in there? lol you get way too worried about your car, man.
Oil changes every like 4k to 7500 depending on how you drive. Do it by miles. Unless your car is in storage, or you only drive like 200 miles a month or something...then there's a special instruction by time and oil color, etc..
Check the oil with your dipstick. It should sit between the upper and lower "dots" that are on there. I think around 4.5 quarts is full if you drain your oil all the way, including the filter.
I like using OEM filters. I get them for free.99, and OEM quality is always very good.
To answer your next question, you dont have to use synthetic. With the mods on your car....unless you're road racing it a lot, you should be just fine with regular dinosaur lube.
