(searched) sporadically soft clutch pedal
so i have been having problems with my clutch pedal. for a while it got softer and softer and after searching HT, i concluded it was the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. so yesterday i go to my local auto parts store and score a master/slave cylinder. installed it, bled it, and clutch felt bomb. stiff and catching low as opposed to soft and catching high.
now i dont understand what the problem could be. the only "problem" i had was tightening the clutch line onto the slave cylinder but i resolved it and tightened it as much as i could. i greased up the end of the slave cylinder with whatever grease i could score out of the old one (i didnt have any grease )
also could it be perhaps the master cylinder rod not being lubed be a problem? i cant figure out what the **** the problem could be. i doubt its the clutch lines?
should i just take apart everything and reinstall it? this ******* sucks
come to my rescue HT

Try rebleeding the lines before digging any deeper. There might be chance that you have air in the lines.

Re: (searched) sporadically soft clutch pedal (redlinetuning)
before starting this i removed the bleeder valve and flushed as much fluid out as i could. could the problem be that i reused the fluid? also i think ill try bleeding it again tomorrow =/

I really don't think that helped. Flush some new fluid in there and see how it does. Valvoline SuperSyn (I believe that's the name) is good stuff.

yea check that slave cylinder. my clutch kept getting softer and softer and engaging lower a while ago- turns out the slave cylinder cracked and leaked fluid/lost pressure in the system

Any luck? I've been having the same problem, and I'm hoping to find out what it is. Thanks.

Did you bench bleed the M/S before you installed it?
Why would you re-use the same fluid?
Also, your slave was most likely okay. usually the M/S goes out, not the slave. I would have tried to replace that first.
