RPM goes nuts upon acceleration
Just finished an H22 swap on the sol. Took it out for a spin. When I floor it, at about 4500 the rpm climbs dramatically and is kinda bouncy as it climbs. If the tach where to run all the way around, I would say it hits redline at about 11,000 rpm. I am assuming there is something wrong with the rpm signal. Where do I go to check it. What do you think the problem could be? Thanks.

Re: RPM goes nuts upon acceleration (H22AEG2)
nothing is wrong with your rpm its just mad wheel spin from the h22 and you're hitting 11k wow!
haha no you should check your vehicle speed sensor (vss) im pretty sure that could be the problem.
anyone want to back up this guesstamate? (the second one -haha)

Re: RPM goes nuts upon acceleration (tunedek)
Last time i had this problem it was broken teeth on my speedo like tunedek said. Gauge is probably fine, specialy if u got a used tranny, that sensor is usualy the first to go

Yeah, the motor doesnt actually rev that high. I don't think it's the clutch because the car is pulling hard. What exactly in the distributer could be wrong. I got it with a bad ignition coil, hmotors sent me a new one for free. Could it be the ICM? Is the VSS located on the top of the trans? If so could I use the one from the SOHC trans? Thanks!

Thanks guys. Turns out forgot to bolt the distributer down after checking timing. Runs fine now. It hesitates a little during vtec though, I think there is something wrong with this distributer.

Drove the car today, was driving good for a little bit, now it is running very rough. Check engine light came on. Ran the codes. Got code 4 which from what I can gather from the search tool, is bad crank angle sensor, which means I need to replace the distributer. Does this sound right?
