Default Rough idle possible fix for everyone w/ the prob.

i noticed my thread wasnt being viewed really and alot of other people are reporting the same problem.... especially the one where it doesnt happen till the car is warmed up (same prob i have) well i had a intermident CEL and pulled code 43: fuel system or O2 sensor switched the o2 sensor and prob. is gone so far havent taken it on a decent run yet tho ill post again tommorow and let u know how it goes. P.S please read other threads b/c other checks are much cheaper .... Civic CX O2 sensor at honda $244.00 retail... or universal which is still $80+ >.< and cleaning intake and checking and cleaning IAC is free i already did the 2 as well as replaced fuel filter b4 i actually went and bought my O2 sensor... guess thats it ill let ya know tommorow if the idle cleans out or if it goes back.

*Bump

Turns out that the F'in problem was the PCV which i checked already but guess it was still to clogged. Well all i can say is if you have that idle problem let the car warm up then pinch the line if the idle fixes and you dont hear clicking replace the valve....

I have a 1998 EX, auto, 70K miles, and it has a rough idle after warm-up. It happens in gear or out of gear. It does not, however, happen when the a/c is on. I can give the car a little bit of gas, say up to 700 or 800 rpm from the apparent 400 or 500 and the shuddering goes away.

What are the best "first things to try"? Throttle cable? Idle screw? IAC cleanup?

Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the input Magik. I have code 43. I'll look into this as a possible cause. I think I've exhausted every other possibility.

I had a rough idle, sputter at start up and when a load was applied and it turned out to be a loose spark plug.

had to adjust the idle after replacin the PCV valve ... adjust idle with IAC unlpugged.... it was to high around 1100 with IAC unpluged so i turned it down to around 500 and pluged in IAC idled around 680-690 and no more fluctuation so i threw on my exhaust lol
