97 Civic with surging idle problem
So i have a 1997 honda civic lx with a d16y7 engine. A while ago i had major idling problems that to the point my engine will ramp up high and then it'll low continuously when in idle. So i talked to a guy whos a mechanic and is kind of hard to reach most of the time and he told me to replace the IACV, so i did. Now ive replaced it but the problem is that my idle is now dropped low to the point that the car shakes to where its about to stall out, and then when i even turn the AC on it does the same thing and then if idle out and leave it like that my car shuts off, any clue of how to fix this problem?
Like i do have a check engine light that i already check up on and came out to be the o2 sensor, but would that cause that type of problem? And if i replace the o2 sensor do i have to replace the fuel filter?
Please i need help and really trying to fix things on my own

The only CEL is for the O2 sensor?
O2 Sensor wouldn't cause surging idle, and you don't have to replace the fuel filter along with it but if you're servicing your vehicle, might as well do that too.
While you're at it, just order new O2 sensors, I got mine on RockAuto.com
Have you tried resetting the ECU and/or clearing the codes?
Does the throttle cable have lots of play? (more than 1/4 of an inch)
Is it automatic or manual?
Have you checked for any vacuum leaks?

No i reset the ecu but i might have a vacuum leak cause the tube that connects to my intake is unhealthy, and throttle body looks clean and doesnt have any carbon build up and i have a manual transmission d16y7 engine. Now if i replace that tube with a new one would the idle go back to normal?

Try taking your finger & taking off the hose, & putting it against the little hole on the intake mani. It'll be like a gold nipple, mine turned out to be a vacuum leak right there, failing pcv valve.

Ok i fixed the vacuum leak by putting a brand new hose there. Now i dont have idling issuses with the AC off now when i turn the AC on my car starts to have idling issuses like its going up and down rapidly but then when i turn the AC off that doesnt happen. So what can be the issuse behind that?
