Replacing Brake Calipers....Got a Question!!?!?!?!?! 98 Civic Hatch CX
Ok I did a search, nothing....So here is my question.
I just put new calipers on my 98 Civic CX hatch. I have both new calipers on, but there is one difference, the bolt for the brake line into the back of the calipers is different size from the old to the new + it only came with one new bolt So I had to leave the driver side old caliper still attached to the line (held up by a jackstand) and the new caliper is bolted up ready for the line to be attached and the brakes to be blead and i am out the door.
Why is there a difference in size if they are the same calipers? And Why does the passenger side "new" bolt work with the old line if it is smaller?
I can take pictures if any one doesn't understand my rant. I need to get another new bolt but the Honda part store is not up until Monday..damn damn damn
Thanks for the help

tryin to understand this
so u got 2 new claipers and only 1 new bolt
my guess would be that they aren't oem or reman. and the bolt size/thread is diffent
same as like when u buy reman. axles.
my best guess

Its a honda part number, they might be reman'. It the same size bolt 14 or 12 can't remember...but the threads seam smaller it might just be new bolt vs. old bolt with tons of rust....i dont know i will figure something out, thanks

The brake calipers should bolt right up, even if you use the old hardware. You may want to make sure that the calipers that you bought were for the correct application. Any reman or OE part you buy is supposed to come with OE or OE style hardware. Unless the hardware is obsolete and superceded by something else. Even then, it should still fit the OE application. You should go back to the place to bought the calipers from and double check the application. Also check to see if the part was boxed wrong or not.
