Your gonna need an axle puller.. Im not sure about an EASY way..but you have to remove everything connected to the axle and then use the axle puller to get it off the tranny.

Re: (jeffk182)
axle puller? hell no
here is a short version on how to do it
unsteak axle nut
remove axle nut
remove cotter pin on lower control arm
remove castle nut on LCA
whack the side of the LCA with a hammer
pull hub assembly away from axle
pry axle gently away from transmission with screwdriver. take care not to jab it too high because you could damage the seal.

if you're not careful, you can bust the ball joint. just rent a ball joint separator from kragen/etc for free

Ive done this 100x on many of my Hondas and never busted a ball joint, but yea getting a ball joint remover is a good idea.
Also instead of using a screwdriver to separate the axle, a small crowbar works well

Re: (AzntaggeR)
thats a good write up, but what about the process on the other side, do you have to remove the intermediate shaft to remove the axle from the drivers side? or can you seperate the axle from the shaft?
