Tranny won't shift into 5th after rebuild...help please
I recently replaced my ISB in my 99 ex tranny, and I need some help getting everything back together correctly. Here's the issue: Everything went back in smoothly, but when I put the tranny back in the car it wouldn't shift into 5th. I pulled the tranny back out and messed around with it and after opening it up, I found that when I tried to shift into 5th, one of the 2 pins on the shift forks that go into the reverse shift holder was binding. It's the one that is lowest, and you can only see from the backside. The reverse shift holder appears to me to be nothing more than 3 plates, one of which will pivot. Well if I try to shift into 5th and it won't go, then I can pivot the plate closest to the gearset and it will go into gear fine. I finally was able to get the tranny into 5th time and time again with no problem, but as soon as I put the case together it won't shift anymore, Occasionally it will, but rarely. I put oil in it thinking maybe it was a lubrication problem, but that doesn't help. I've been messing around with this for the past 2 weeks or so, and I'm out of ideas. Any help or advice would be immensly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I do have a pic of it all, I may try and post that too.

If you don't hear your answer here, go to the tech forum or the FI forum or one of those and look up Mista Bone. Send him a PM. He rebuilds those trannies weekly.
I'm sure he could give you a couple pointers and things to try.

yep, when i had it on the car, i could get it into reverse, but not 5th. It took me a day or so to get reverse, at first it didn't work, but I never was able to get 5th.

i'm not quite understanding the whole 2 pin thingy. go to this website and put an arrow to the thing that you are talking about. it's a b16 tranny but it's close enough i'd think to a z6 tranny. (although i never did open up my z6 tranny to look) pic's help a thousand times more than words, please post some pics or use someone elses

If someone knows how to reduce the size of the pic I can reduce the size so it's not so huge.
EDIT: Thanks

no d-series, exactly like the write-up you did for replacing the ISB awhile back.
