replaced o2. CEL comes back still
quick question.
heres the rundown.
-99 dx d16y7
-check engine light
-pulled code. its the secondary 02 (i hope its the one after the cat)
-bought replacement from RYWIRE
-installed replacement
-used obd2 scan tool to clear cel
-cel pops up after car sits for awhile
-clear the cel and drive off without it coming back.
the cel will usually come back after the car is sitting for more than an hour. if i turn off the car and go inside the store to pick something up and come back out, the cel doesnt turn back on. am i doing something wrong???
code pulled was P0141 Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Secondary HO2S) (Sensor 2) Heater Circuit Malfunction

so what else is part of that circuit? do the 4 wires lead directly to the ecu? the weird thing was when i had the old o2 in there, i would try the same procedure with clearing the cel with the scan tool, but it would come back on after a few seconds. id try it repeatedly and all it would do was come back on. so when i put the new replacement o2, i would be able to clear the cel after 1 or 2 tries. im stumped!

There could be an issue in the wiring from the O2 sensor to the ECU. The wires don't go DIRECTLY to the ECU, but usuall plug into the wiring harness and then go to the ECU from there.
There's also the off chance that your ECU may have an internal issue.

To help you troubleshoot...Notice the "heated" part of this code.
Your code is for the heater on the O2 sensor. Make sure you are getting 12v to it, and also check to see if the grounds have continuity.
Could be a circuit, a fuse, Not sure but a relay also.

Do you think you could have pinched or damaged a wire during the install? I know this happened to my friends ABS sensor when we installed his LCAs. One little tiny nick was messed up. So small you couldn't even notice by just looking.

Re: (.PLUMMM)
ok check the ground side, the sensors ground for the heater is relying on the quality of the ground of the sesnor to the pipe, through its connection and its connection to the engine gorund, those little ground straps that attach form the body to the exhaust pipe for no apparent reason are important, if you ever broke or ripped one off or it could just be deteriorated, check it out though, and if not wiggle allt he bolts at each exhaust connection to try to improve the ground.
