Strange CEL occurances, code 67.
I re-ringed my engine (D16Y7) a couple of months ago curing a quart per 400 mile thirst and reinstating (mostly) factory compression. All of that went swimmingly. A few weeks after while driving to work The CEL came on.
I checked it and it came up 67 (O2 sensor). Reading about this lead me to believe that my factory battery terminal post connectors were too loose (they were) and that that could cause the O2 sensor to bring up a CEL. Replaced them with lead connectors and went on my way.
The CEL kept coming on but I noticed a pattern. It *only* will cause a CEL if I'm driving 40-45mph in 5th gear at a constant throttle position. If I am in a different gear, no CEL. If I'm feathering the throttle, no CEL. I am fairly certain that an O2 sensor is bad, but I was hoping this strange phenomenon could isolate the actual problem
Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think to do is replace both O2 sensors. But I usually like finding out the actual cause since in my experience when an O2 is bad, it trips almost immediately after clearing the CEL regardless of engine load/speed.

Code 67 is for Catalyst efficiency below threshold PO420 (ie bad cat). Most likely your cat has oil in it from the bad rings. Try this to clean the cat.

Re: Strange CEL occurances, code 67.
One week update:
No CEL has returned despite purposely trying to get it to. I had a slightly different concentration of lacquer thinner. 1 quart to about 1/3 tank of gas (225mi on trip odo). Burned it off with about 120 miles of driving. I didn't notice any difference in the engine with the lacquer thinner or afterward.
Of course I'm now probably jinxing myself.
