Default Removing aftermarket shift ****

When I bought my beater it already came with a shift **** that looks exactly like this:

I removed the allen screws on top as well as the carbon fiber sleeve. But I can't figure out how to remove the rest of the ****. I tried twisting it off but it didn't budge, and I already cut my fingers on the peeling chrome.

Just wondering if anyone here has this **** and can give me some insight on how to remove it.

If it doesn't twist off, it should be attached via a hex head set screw. Usually they're towards the base. You'll usually have to look close to find them.

Yeah, even the ones with hex screws just twist on. My guess is that the previous owner got tired of it being loose (as most cheapie aftermarket shiftknobs are in my experience) and probably hit it with some loctite or superglue.

Worst comes to worst, you can always dremel it apart. Or chop off the shifter and order a B&M dual bend to replace it.

Sometimes you just have to really yank on it. Might seem cruel but harmless. Just watch your head on the roof of the car(Memories lol). Unless of course its really super glued on.

dremel tool? What kind of shifter do you have? Maybe it's time to upgrade.

Like other people have said, some of the universal type aftermarket shift ***** are held on with 1 or more set screws.

There might be a collar at the bottom of the **** that unscrews and then there are allen head set screws that secure it to the shifter

That's the way my cheapee is. My friend had to sit in the backseat with a pair of vice grips on the shifter in 3rd gear, and kick the **** out of his. Had a bunch of blue **** on the threads.
