Default rear main seal question ?

What would make my rear main seal go bad three times in about 4 months had it change every time by a reputable garage?

hmmm.... I don't think theres a thing in the world that should kill seals like that. Sounds to me like your getting scammed.

Just my .02. though.

call the B.B.B

next time you have work done to your car make shur you ask to see the old parts
also if the seal was removed, and the tech nicked the metal surrounding, that will cause the seal to leak.no matter how many seals you replace

if you have a bad rear main seal that is really going bad and you are losing engine oil i hate to break this to you but it is probably that you need main bearings. the bearings are not round anymore they are actually eggshaped(cannot see with eye) and your crank is round. the crank moves up and down and ruins the seal time and time again. how many miles are on your car? how is the oil pressure? what weight oil are you using? are you using a honda seal or aftermarket seal such as felpro? what makes bearings go bad on a low mileage engine are a few things like wrong oil weight/running to low of oil level/ out fo balance clutch or bad torque convertor. hope this helps.

my rear main seal was going because the guy that worked on the car I bought before he wrecked it didnt put the seal in far enough. You are supposed to put them in at a certain depth. My flywheel was rubbing against it and thats what caused it to go bad. I was losing about 1.5 quarts a week and it saturated the clutch. I was doing a new clutch install anyway.
