rear disc brakes
ok i just bought myself a set of rear gsr brakes from a 2000 teggy. my question is what else do i need to buy if i already have the 1995 civic ex non abs and non rear disc? i've heard too many conflicting stories and i don't know what to do now.

aside from the rear discs, you need a 4040 prop valve from a 90-93 integra or 92-95 civic si. You can use your stock brake booster, and then your done.

it isnt needed, but its highly recommended, I never drove a 4disc car with a 3030 prop. but their selling 4040 prop valves on ebay for 50 bucks, or you can go to the junkyard and get it for like 5ish if you want to find one in the hot hot sandy sun.

I run a 3030 prop valve, 13/16MC too on my rear disc swap, if and only if you swap your front brakes for integra units you should upgrade to a 15/16 or 7/8 MC and a 4040 prop valve. The 4040 prop valve and larger MC really has nothing to do with the rear discs and a lot to do with the fact the integra had larger front brakes. Look at a '92 civic Si non ABS, it has factory 4 wheel disc brakes, 13/16MC and 3030 prop valve. The rear discs don't really stop any better than drums though, you'll get much better performance swapping on front intergra brakes MC and prop valve. rear discs look nice though and they're easy to work on, its the main reason i swapped mine. Either way good luck.

yep you need the cables too, I have civic si rears on mine w/o the prop valve and works fine. I've never used it on any rear brake swap. idk?? you should just need the e brake cables as far as I know to get it rolling. My car is a 4dr so I to improvise on the cables to make them stretch and fit. ie.- the brackets. but the brakes came off of a 92 hatch which is shorter. godd luck

Yep, if this is your only car you might want to wait till theres someone around to drive you to honda to get bolts before you start this though. Its really common to break suspension bolts doing this swap.

The proportioning valve controls the pressure sent to the front and rear brakes. Some people argue that when you swap on rear disc brakes you need the 4040 prop valve or your rear brakes will lock up first, this just isn't true. I think some people got the idea that since the integra had rear disc brakes and the MC and prop valve were different that must be why, they never took into account that the integra has larger front brakes. Thats my theory anyway.

just spend some money, and get DC2-R MS and Booster, gsr brakes front and rear hawk pads and SS braided lines and it will stop like a champ. oh wait thats my set-up, oh well it works great

Well I'm about to do this too with some integra discs all around. I have the non-abs booster and master cylinder and the 4040 valve, but I was looking at some parts numbers on autopartwwarehouse.com for example, and they list one of the gsr boosters as the same as my 95 civic. Does this mean that the booster does not need to be replaced like you suggest 94EG8? If not, that would save me from being upside down trying to get that whole mechanism apart and a lot of time.

If its a '94 - '01 Integra i believe all the GSRs had ABS, this booster is supposed to be different, now i don't actually have a GSR booster here to look at so i can't confirm. What i can tell you is on EX sedans equipped with 4 wheel ABS brakes the booster is different, the mounting flange on the MC is a mirror image of a non ABS MC as so one wont bolt to the other. I've been told that some integras (RS i believe) had either a 7/8 or 15/16MC that bolts up. the '91 Civic EX Sedan also has a 15/16 MC, this one definately bolts up to a 5th gen booster.

Sorry I should have been a little more clear. The integra booster I have is from a non-ABS RS model and so I am wondering if that is the same as what I have in there now. If it is then I can just swap the MC out which would be a lot easier. Does the integra booster have more boost or something or are they the same? Thanks again

If you can bolt the MC to the booster it should be the same, otherwise you'll either need another MC or you'll have to swap the 'teg booster and MC as a unit. The ABS boosters are a bit deeper if i remember right, i'm not sure exactly how the differ otherwise. If you compare the 'teg MC to your current one you can see pretty easy if it will bolt up or not. look at the flanges on both, if they match simply swap the MC, if ones 180 degrees off then obviously it wont bolt up.

it was a straight bolt on affair! thanks guys! and it only took me 12 hours!!! lol things kept breaking..... but brake honestly feels ALOT better!!!
