Default rear bracket (not mount) is it needed??

when i got my swap i took off the rear bracket thing that bolts to the intake manifold and then to the block, i coudlnt see any use for it at all except to make it a PITA to get the wiring harness off the motor so i took it off, just wanted to know if it really does serve a purpose or if its pointless. i know there are the metal hangers that u can clip some plugs on it but other than that, i cant see it doing anything..

sugestions?

I think you may end up cracking the intake manifold. It's just cast aluminum and it does have a lot of weight attached to it. I'd reinstall it to be on the safe side.

Put it back on. The last thing you want is to break the manifold because you thought it didnt do anything.

I know which bracket you are talking about. It's the intake manifold support bracket. I still say it's a necessary piece and should be reinstalled.

My friend and I have taken off that bracket on a few motors we built and ran and never had a problem. Maybe it's just luck but there isn't that much force put on the IM manifold to brake it when it's bolted to the head.

Not wanting to argue just saying that we never encountered any problems

I took mine off when I swaped my motor and have never had a problem. It really makes it a bitch to get the intake manifold off if you keep it.
