Really stupid question from a beginner
What does EK, EG, etc. mean? I think it is the chassis type, but I am not clear. Is my 95 EX (auto) an EG-6? Also, is it wise to rather save up for a B18C or B16A engine rather than spending money on a D16Z6? (which seems to have very few parts available for it and a poor stock hp) I have already bought an Injen Race division intake, installed that easily, but the more and more I look for "good" performance parts, the harder it is to find ones listed for my engine. AnyInfo, tips on cheap mods would be greatly apreciated. THanks in advance.

ek, eg, ef they are the year/chasis type sortof like a EG is a civic from 92-95 and a ef is a 88-91 and a ek is a 96-00 and the number afterwards describes if it's a hatch a sedan or whatever. about there not being many "good" performance parts for your d16z6 you are highly mistaken, there are plenty. But when you say should you save up the money for a b16/b18 well that depends on how fast you want to go. "speed is money, how much do you want to spend" and i would definatly say get rid of that automatic transmission, that's not going to do much for speed. well i hope that helps . peace

Uhh... First off welcome to H-T cause with a post like that it doesnt seem like you been here long. Sorry to say.
Eg, EK and those are chassis codes. Eg is 92-95 civic coupes, and hatch. EJ is 92-95 sedans. Ek is 96-00 (i think 00) coupe and hatch, dont know the sedan. And also the numbers like EG-6. I dont know those, sorry.
About the engine. If you stay here long youll see alot of debates on B18c vs. B16a. I went with the B18c after i said **** it and i want the fastest for the money. But its all up to you. You could also find alot of stuff for the D16, and you could even boost the **** out of it, blow it up, and pick a new one up here for a couple hunderd and keep playing with it. It all depends on wat you want. Either way welcome to H-T and good luck with watever you choose.
