I had that problem before with my gsr and i popped the hood and saw oil everywhere. Finally i took off the valve cover and saw that the gasket was in 2. So check that before a head gasket and also see if you have any leaks. Hope that helps and good luck.

it could be a lot of things.....i had a problem with my EG smoking, and it was the crank seal and the rear seal.....al the time i thought it was the oil pan gasket and had replaced it like 3 times thinking it was a bad job each time ...just try and find somewhere that can check it for you...i took mine to a napa car care center and they checked it for free...good luck!

The rings are most likely going. Do a compression check and leakdown test to pinpoint the problem but a headgasket would show other problems.

Unless it's valve springs or very large amounts of blowby oil will appear white when you notice it in the rearview. Maybe a slight blueish tint but it will still look white.

Re: My EG is smoking.... (LS-hatch)
my pvc(pcv?) was clogged, causing the oil flow to go elsewhere(mechanic said it was burning up in the intake). got it replaced, still burns oil like an old honda(not worth it to do compression testing, for me anyways) but burning went down significantly.
