is this a real Si
I saw the this red civic at the junk yard. It had the si sticker on the rear of the car. It had black rear seats with red stitching. And this is the vin from it. My question is. Is it a real si. I took the front knuckles with calipers and rotors off and hid them. I want to go back and get them if you people say they're worth it. The rear drum brakes were making me think it was not a real si. Another question I have is. How do the brakes i found fare against brakes off a DA?

OP clearly said drum rear. He's also in California, so Canadian excentricities don't apply here. If he has an EJ6 (DX/LX) or an EJ7 (HX), then the EX fronts will still be an upgrade - they're the same between the EX and SI. Regardless, the rear drums are useless.

I was just talking about the front knuckles, b/c as soon as you see the "EJ8" pic and rear drums it's out of the question if it's a "Si". And who knows maybe they are teg brakes... I swapped out my old DX knuckles for teg ones as I got them as a trade for a headunit unlikely but either way most junkyard suspension parts are rusted to ****.

Doesn't really matter if they're Integra fronts or not - they're an upgrade regardless. Yes, junk yard parts are frequently rusted on, which is why you always bring a Dremel, cutting wheels, a hammer, chisel, and penetrating oil. I've never met a part in a junk yard I couldn't eventually get out.

It is in fact an Si. Si model only available in years 1999 & 2000. Tenth character in the vin# is X. Representing 1999 & Y if it was from 2000. Thanks for all of your input.

i guess i'll be the one to break down the VIN with the help of this link... https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-prelude-4/decoding-vin-all-models-1983-a-2616666/
1= manufactured in the US
H= manufactured by Honda (duh...)
EJ8= chassis & engine code (in this case an EX 96-00 chassis, with a D16Y8 engine)
1= 2dr coupe, manual trans
4= trim level (in this case also an EX)
6= check digit (haven't got clarification on what exactly this relates to but that's what this digit represents)
X= model year (1999 for this VIN)
L= assembly plant (this one was assembled in East Liberty, Ohio)
039...= the production sequence number, or whatever number car it was coming off of the assembly line.
this site also has a VIN decoder (https://honda-tech.com/vindecoder.ph...rd1745wc085955) in case you ever feel like plugging in the full VIN and finding out what it actually relates to.
