Best brakes for ek

looking to get the best OEM brakes for a 2000 civic cx hatch

If you got the dough you can get some NSX brakes but it requires Si knuckles i think and you need to get the rotors redrilled for 4 lugs

They are both the same spec as far as sizes. The difference comes in the size of the knuckle. For your '00 i would definately go with the Si.

SI, EX, GSR, LS... who cares, they are all a 10.2" rotor. The only difference is Integra calipers have a ever so slightly larger piston in the caliper. I <3 my EX brakes, no point in paying more for anything else if you ask me...

For the price if you are moving up from dx/cx brakes I would go with the 94-01 Integra setup or 99-00 Civic Si setup front and rear and since you have a 96-00 Civic I would upgrade to the 99-00 Civic Si brake master cylinder, and trust me I have this setup and I love it, and it was a big difference compared to my stock dx brakes.

Five lug always works but some see it as overkill with regards to money spent on it. GSR and SI brakes would most likely be the way to go on a limited budget

They are the same but might as well get the Si brakes and the MC/BB, steel braided brake lines and you'll notice a difference.

Si setup for cheaper and less headache. Upgrade your MC/BB at the same time.

I do agree, Si or GSR brakes will work wonders for street driving. However, 5 lug is almost a bare minimum if you plan on road racing your car. Well, at least at some of the higher speed tracks.

I have gsr brakes on my 99 hatch and I was wondering if you you know what the exact measurement of the ex/si piston is. I haven't been able to find out what it is. I was wondering if that is why the prop valve in the dx hatch and the si is the same. Also if the piston is smaller in civic's that may be why the master cylinder is smaller.

</TD></TR></TABLE> I would say if your looking for a good track setup and you are limited by wheel size, I would say do the ex knuckles/11 inch redrilled prelude rotor/accord wagon calipers for the front and 11 inch fastbrakes setup on the rear. If you don't plan on lapping the car I would say just upgrade the pads on the stock hatch brakes and do ss brake lines.
