alright i own a 96 ex with a d16y8 nothing special 7.5 fidanza flywheel stage 2 centerforce clutch drop in k&n air filter an a fart muffler with a unorthodox crank pulley. As of right now the check engine light is off but randomly it will kick on and miss fire throughout the cylinders and then throw a code that the computer was fixing it or some dumb bullshit. any ideas?

check plugs, wires, distributor, even injectors... CEL usually comes on when a problem persist... like a miss fire will throw a code when it happends 40 times in a row... I had this problem with my truck it was actually an injector causing a misfire. (but thats chevy for yah)

 

sounds like a bad O2 sensor. Wait until it does it again and then see what code it's throwing. O2 sensors aren't cheap, so you want to make sure that it isn't something else.

 

it was throwing a o2 sensor code but i got a new one and it quit so now its just randomly doing it and ive gotten new wires plugs distributor cap and rotor button so i dont know lol

 

Are you sure its the right one, in OBD2 there are 2 o2 sensors, primary and secondary.

Check simples bro. Mileage of vehicle? miles on spark plugs? and wires?

 

02 sensors simply tell you whats going on inside your engine by reading exhaust gases, temp and etc....check the simples if your getting a misfire code check your plugs and wires, fuel and injectors and then if all else fails check ur 02.
