Default racking pinion swap???

Anyone know or have experience swaping out racking pinions from EJ1 to a DC2?? is it really complicated? can it be done without taking out motor?? my ball bearings for steering is out leaking lubricate. It also makes noises when I step on the brakes and hit bumps. I know its not the brakes, I just change rotor and pads.. anyones help would really be apreciated.

That would be a sign of the bushings on the rack being bad, also I'm not sure on the year but if you are switching to a non power steering one or vice versa, last I read you do have to modify it to fit.

I would basically advise you to get the one for the car, if you really feel like its bad. What ball bearings are you talking about ?

It is the ball bearing on the driver side that controls the steering, I can see the grease splatter on the shocks and underbody. The reason why I ask if it can be done was because I have an extra Racking Pinion laying around. Both mines and the GSR has the PS. So I dont know if it would fit or not...
