Default RAaaaaaaahhhhhh Stupid TDC Issues! JDM D15B

Ok I finally got the TDC right on my jdm d15b, and then the code 8 came back! WTF.... I have the crank set to the TDC line, and I have the cam set to the p08 mark on the left of plastic timing belt housing. There is another p08 mark on the right, does anyone know what this is for?
My timing falls within factory spec, 15-16* (I'm not using a digital gun, only going off what the crank tells me).
I'm not slipping my belt because I rechecked the TDC and everything and it was fine.
Sometimes cold starts are a bit rough, it cranks for like 2 seconds before it will actually fire.
When the car does start, the idle is real high at first, like 1.5k, but falls to 750 after 3 mins, but then falls to like 500 or so after driving. It's not surging or anything though, so I don't think it's a vaccum leak.... plus I JUST replace my head gasket.
Can anyone put a finger on what's going on?

What about changing the sensor?

Don't know how to go about doing that..... all I know is it's in the distributor, and it's probably internal .

I have a similar cold start up problem. I have gotten suggestions that its the IACV or throttle postion sensor. But I have no clue. Good luck. It sounds like this engine is giving you more problems than its worth. I hope it all works out for you.

I'm only throwin a code 1 and a code 8. I can't ****** figure out the timing thing though. And I can't find anyone to hook me up with a how-to on 5 to 1 wire o2 sensor conversions since im runnin the p08.

BTW TDC sensor is in the dizzy.

Could the high revving issue possibly lie in my intake manifold gasket? I haven't checked it out, so I was thinking that may be it, and if so, I'll just go with a hondata gasket.

I don't think you have anything to worry about with your high revving. Almost all cars rev that high on a cold start. Once the coolant temperature warm enough (after 3 min. like you say), the IACV will stop letting extra air into the manifold.

Is your distributor new? I think you have to get a new distributor if that sensor is bad. Check the resistance between B13 and B14 on your ECU, it should be 350-700 Ohms.

I think the easiest way to fix your O2 sensor CEL is to either get a 1-wire O2 sensor (I have one you can buy off me for like $20 shipped if you want) or get a P28 since they look for a 4-wire O2. Why do you have a 5-wire? VX?

Anyway man, good luck. I know how it feels having a D15B that nobody seems to know much about.

EDIT: Oops! Didn't realize how old this post was, sorry for bringing it back..

But to the original poster, did you find out how to fix it?
