Default quick Timing question

so i have a ej which ive swapped a dohc engine into, the engine turns over and kcks little bit like it wants to start but doesnt seem to have enough mechanical energy..
ive tried re-doing my timing 3 times and just wanted to know If my Intake cam is off by one whhole tooth and the whte line on my crank pulley isnt completely lined up with arrow on my block, would that cause my engine to not fire up???

I doubt that one tooth would make much of a difference. Maybe mileage or power MIGHT be noticeable, but the lift profile would not be so far off that the engine wouldn't start.

yeah many ppl say that being one tooth off wouldnt make much of a difference but iv'e also heard many experienced techs say otherwise, i would like to know whether it would make a difference because i dont want to waste my time adjusting the belt. If anyone else has anything they want to add PLEASE feel free to chime in =]

So anyone with an adjustable cam gear is a fool because their car will only run at 0* anyhow? Go ahead and fix the timing and let us know if it fixes the problem. I seriously doubt it will have any effect.

it woudlnt make it not start but it is a problem u cant just leave it like that and ..that 1 tooth just might be another additinal thing to why its not starting contributing factor

i would set the timing correctly, for sure. If nothing else you might not be able to get the engine in time correctly by moving the dizzy. Only one tooth off i think u can get it in time still. But it is not worth chancing, you get it all together and put it in the car and try to adjust the timing and the dizzy wont move enough, then its time to pull off the plastics and change it. I would just change it now, could also be part of the reason that it is not running
