Default question before i get tuned today

someone told me that they wont tune me without my purge solenoid how true is this? If this is the case i will go get one at the junk yard.

the evap purge solenoid should have nothing to do with it, whoever told you that is obviously misinformed...do you think all those people making 500+ have evap purge solenoids hooked up haha

what are they tuning? That might answer your question. If it's not a full standalone (or at least Hondata) and it's OBD2, they might not have the ability to clear an Evap purge code.

If you've converted to OBD1 or tuning full standalone, then I don't see why they would need you to have it.

Any tuner worth a damn shouldn't "need" your car to have it, unless they are trying to maintain streetabilty/smog.


I wanted to clarify what I was saying, if you're tuning a VAFC on a stock computer, throwing an EVAP code, then that is why they want you to get one. The car needs to be running perfect, to get a good tune. Did that make more sense? I figured I'd edit my post.
